As I understand it (I no longer live in the UK so I am not as in touch as I was), the OII has started building itself a pretty good reputation. I have certainly seen a few interesting events and speakers, and they have hired/taken on some pretty good people in the field.

So I would say that you probably have nothing to worry about. Although since you ask for my advice, I would say find the names of people that were on the course last year and see if you can track them down and send them a friendly email asking for their advice.

I was accepted to the MSc program in social science of the internet and am wondering if you have any opinion about the program, since you seemed to have pretty negative sentiments back in 2006.
