<a href="http://kierenmccarthy.com/2006/08/30/sniffy-oxford-internet-institute-holds-igf-meeting/#comment-10352" rel="nofollow">@Lauren</a>: There have been big, positive changes in the OII since I wrote this post four years ago.

As I understand it (I no longer live in the UK so I am not as in touch as I was), the OII has started building itself a pretty good reputation. I have certainly seen a few interesting events and speakers, and they have hired/taken on some pretty good people in the field.

So I would say that you probably have nothing to worry about. Although since you ask for my advice, I would say find the names of people that were on the course last year and see if you can track them down and send them a friendly email asking for their advice.

Good luck Lauren, I hope you have a good and interesting time.

Hi Kieran,

I came across your post as I was searching for information on the Oxford Internet Institute. I was accepted to the MSc program in social science of the internet and am wondering if you have any opinion about the program, since you seemed to have pretty negative sentiments back in 2006. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!

Why not set up your own internet discussion forum, you might do a better job, and I reckon you're qualified :)
