Polls: ICANN, Sex.com and book reading

April 17, 2007

I’ve just stuck up a third poll in the space of a week, so I figured it was time to review the results of the previous two and outline the third. (As if anyone really cares, but it makes me feel better.)
The first was about ICANN and what I should do in my new role [...]

The final Sex.com book cover!

April 4, 2007

Okay, so here it is – the final Sex.com book cover. My publisher and I agreed a compromise on the tagline first thing this morning. It will be: “One Domain, Two Men, Twelve Years and the Brutal Battle for the Jewel in the Internet’s Crown.” At one point in the discussion, while discussing the minutiae [...]

Decide the Sex.com tagline – but fast

April 3, 2007

The tagline for my book on the Sex.com saga has to be with the publishers on Thursday i.e. in two days.

We – meaning me and the publisher – are still undecided so here is your chance to have some fun and help me out. There are a list below of the sort of variations we came up with a few months ago – they are also on the poll on the right. So, please, vote but also please offer your suggestions and variations. And do so quick. A signed book and a beer to whoever nails it…

Becoming part of the story – expert or ego-maniac?

February 16, 2007

A story about the Sex.com case has appeared in the San Jose Metro which includes as many quotes from me as it does from Gary Kremen and from Cohen’s current lawyer. I was also heavily featured in a different article in the German FT on Sex.com last week. And on Monday I am going to [...]

Sex.com article in FT Deutschland

February 9, 2007

There is an article about Sex.com in the German Financial Times this morning which rather nicely goes into detail about my book and includes several quotes from me.
The only thing is, I am pretty sure I didn’t say “rucksichtslose Schlaht” and I am certain the words “Seine Uberzeugungskraft ist aussergewohnlich” have never crossed my lips, [...]

Sex.com book finished and off to the publisher

February 5, 2007

Just a quick note: this morning I finished my Sex.com book and have sent it off to the publisher, who will then give it to an editor who no doubt will have some ideas about moving chapters about and tidying and all that, and it will be on the shelves on 3 May.
In case you’re [...]

Sex.com book cover – what d’you think?

January 24, 2007

I have just been sent what will most likely be the book cover for my Sex.com book. And here it is. I like it. The previous one was entirely red with a pixelated woman behind the name. This one feels more right to me: interesting but not sleazy. I like the woman making out the [...]

Stephen Cohen rewrites Sex.com history

December 21, 2006

Stephen Michael Cohen, the man who stole the Sex.com domain and is currently out of jail, has embarked on a touch of history rewriting, starting with the various entries of Wikipedia that deal with the case.
The Stephen M Cohen entry has been redirected to “Stephen Cohen sex.com” by Cohen himself, and all the information has [...]

Wanna know the latest on the Sex.com case?

December 18, 2006

It looks as though the Sex.com case is going to run and run. In fact, I was asked last week when it would finally end and my answer was “I’m beginning to think only when Stephen Cohen is resting peacefully in his grave”.
Anyway, I finally got around to updating the Sexdotcom.info website that covers the [...]

Skweezer – when copy theft becomes a business model

December 13, 2006

I was surprised to find this morning when reviewing stats for my Sexdotcom.info site that a site called Skweezer.net has appeared.
I was even more surprised when I followed links through and found that this website has grabbed a large chunk of the content on my site and stored it on its own servers. This is [...]
